Remember Love
Their eyes open together, and their eyelashes meet. They blink in sync. I love you leaves their lips.
The room is dark. Their bodies are the only proof that two people are present. They can’t see — but the scent in the air is familiar, and the touch is home.
This moment is the dream of so many. Yet selfishness robs so many of the spirit to reach for it.
They say fools rush in — but isn’t it the greater foolishness to run out? To choose loss over gain? To control the heart because we’ve convinced ourselves that tears will only tear us apart? We call love “gravity,” as if it’s the thing dragging us down into the air of misery.
And still — we see two hands entwined, refusing to release their grip, and we doubt their forever.
They are LoveSnobs. They disregard every attempt to blind them from their destination of togetherness. They see the failure all around them, and they preach success anyway — until success is all people can understand.
We forgot what those two bodies moving in one accord actually meant, just because so many started using their bodies only to get off.
So we have to close our eyes and trust that someone else will invest in us as deeply as we invest in them. We have to believe our lashes will meet every morning, and our bodies will fold together every night.
