Clarity
People stay in endless, draining relationships because they’re misinformed. They’re living by the wrong definitions of the very words that guide them — words like forgiveness, loyalty, trust, family, friends, and romantic partnership. So let’s bring some clarity.
Forgiveness is wishing someone well after they’ve harmed you. It is not reconciliation. You can forgive someone and still keep your distance.
Loyalty starts with self. A person has to have their own standards, morals, and principles before they can attach the word “loyalty” to anyone else. And if someone can’t refine your best attributes, they aren’t worth being around.
Trust is given in one area and earned in another. You’re not going to hand someone access to your bank account, keys to your home, or a spot in your circle without familiarity. But you also have to open yourself up — verbally, emotionally, and spiritually — to build that familiarity in the first place.
Family is the bloodline you’re born into. But sharing blood doesn’t obligate you to tolerate disrespect. They either respect you, or they stay at a distance.
Friends are people who reflect your ideals. They should share your core values — honesty, loyalty, understanding, trust, and plenty of other goodness. If you can’t communicate freely with someone, “friend” isn’t the title that fits.
Romantic partnership is two people who share a spiritual connection — a promise to keep their eyes locked for a lifetime, their hearts beating until death, their souls passed down for generations.
Clarity in all of these areas is what leads to a fruitful, healthy existence.
